Getting Involved

The Steyning Downland Scheme is a community partnership project run voluntarily by local people for local people. It is hoped that more and more people from Steyning of all ages will catch the vision and will want to be involved.
Volunteering is a great way to meet lots of people, have fun and make a positive difference to project aimed at benefiting the local community.

▪ Give as much or as little time as you would like, whether it is one hour, one day, or more.
▪ Choose from a variety of activities:
• working outdoors doing practical conservation work
• helping with survey work, data collection and recording
• help others enjoy birds and other wildlife
• help to fundraise
• helping with events
• writing educational resources and leaflets
• preparing text for information boards
• assisting with publicity and communication.
▪ Whatever your age we can help you get involved with something that interests you and utilises your skills.
▪ Working with young people: if you enjoy working with young people, there are a number of ways that you can help to develop the educational use of the scheme. We want to develop environmental education activities and resources for the local primary school, and other groups such as youth groups.
